Who wants a gorgeous tiny goat?

Unfortunately, there are no available babies at the moment. The breed has not been in NZ long enough to breed up enough babies. I do have a list of interested people, so if you would like me to add you to the list, please send me your details. Thank you.

  GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Pygmy Goat has African origins. It is genetically small, cobby, and compact. Its frame is clearly defined and well angulated; limbs and head are short relative to body length. The Pygmy Goat is full-barrelled and well muscled; the body circumference in relation to height and weight is proportionately greater than that of other breeds. The short, broad head has a concave or dished profile.. The ears are small, alert, and erect.

The Pygmy Goat is hardy, agile, alert and animated, good-natured, and gregarious. They produce high quality milk, often with exceptionally high butterfat content.

A Bit of Background

Pygmy Goats’ Transition from Utility to Pet
History: The British took West African Dwarf goats to Europe during their colonization of western Africa in the nineteenth century. In Germany and Sweden, they were exhibited as exotic animals in zoos. Exports of these animals reached Great Britain, Canada, and the United States. In Europe, they were developed into the Dutch Dwarf and the Pygmy breed of Great Britain. Cameroon Dwarf goats were shipped from Europe to the US in the late fifties, and their offspring were sold to zoos, research facilities, and private individuals. Thereafter, they gained popularity as pets and show animals. In the U.S., they were developed into Pygmy goats and Nigerian Dwarf goats. Australian herds were developed from frozen sperm and embryos imported from the US.
